This week, Lon & Blake Shelton co-host Country Countdown USA backstage at The Voice.  The show was done in Blake’s trailer.

“It’s all in there. Really, the only difference is we didn’t actually meet up at a bar. That would have been kinda hard to keep that on the down low.”

“And you kinda get to a point where you’re like, ‘Man, am I really going to do this again already?’ You know what I mean. ‘But it is happening.’”

Says Shelton of the record: “As a country artist, I’m supposed to sing about things I’ve experienced, and the album is basically a timeline of the last 12 months of my life and pretty much how it went from the downs back to the up.”

“There’s a fine line there, y’know, because you want everybody to be able to relate to your music and put it in their own lives somehow to be able to relate to it.”

It takes a truly important occasion to get Blake Shelton out of his jeans and cowboy boots and into a tux.

With If I’m Honest, Blake Shelton has made the most personal album of his career. Long known as a public figure unafraid to be himself, Blake has applied that same guileless approach to his art, bringing a searing emotional honesty to the 15 slices of life that make up the project.

One of the bedrock, yin-yang foundations of country music — the Saturday-night sinner and Sunday-morning saint — is really about the coping mechanisms one uses to get through life and the loss that goes with it.

Blake is known for his quick wit and fun-loving personality, but one thing Shelton takes very seriously is his music. This is especially true with his new album, If I'm Honest, a 15-song collection due May 20 that Shelton said needed every song to fully represent his journey over the past year. 

The 15-track If I’m Honest – which is due out May 20 – also includes “Bet You Still Think About Me,” which Shelton told Bones is “basically what it sounds like.”

Weeks after Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani finally confirmed they’ll be releasing a duet together on the country star’s upcoming album, fans of the couple will get to hear the song when they perform it together Monday night on The Voice.

Blake will unveil the latest song from his milestone new album If I’m Honest in a very special performance with Gwen Stefani on The Voice next Monday, May 9.

Despite telling PEOPLE in August that he never saw himself “sitting down and writing songs” with his now-girlfriend Gwen Stefani, Shelton, 39, confesses that he was just a bit hesitant at the time to publicly talk about any potential collaborations.

Music City heavyweight and The Voice mainstay Blake Shelton will release his first new music in 18 months next week. “Came Here To Forget,” the first single off his anticipated 12th full-length is scheduled to release Tuesday, March 8.
