Who’s had a big influence on your career?

Songwriters. I started writing with my older brother, Eric. Then I got to collaborate with other writers like Pharrell Williams, who is a huge inspiration because he doesn’t have insecurities when he writes. He just lets it come out of him. Songwriting can make you quite insecure because it's not like you can press a button and it happens. I've had writer’s block through the years, but I don’t feel like I'm at that place right now, and that comes from working with the right people. When you're around talent, it brings your talent out.
