Pure BS, Blake Shelton Style

Blake Shelton talks about his ever-evolving music and style

It’s been six years since Blake Shelton exploded onto the music scene with the smash single “Austin” Fast forward to his fourth album, appropriately entitled Pure BS, and you’ll hear the same great country voice. There are, however, some notable differences in the Blake Shelton you’ve all grown to know and love. He’s still got that quick wit and the Oklahoma drawl and can sing a country song better than almost anyone around. You may, however, give the CD cover a double-take. Gone are the long curls, ladies. He’s opted for a shorter, more mature look. His image, Blake insists, has evolved right alongside both his music and personal life.

The past year has been full of changes for Blake, both personally and professionally. After going through a divorce, he moved back to his home state of Oklahoma, found new management and brought in an additional two producers to complete the new album. The culmination of all these life changes resulted in Blake digging deeper as an artist. “I did find more of myself that I didn’t know was there,” he admits.

Now, don’t think he’s gonna change on you too much, though. The cowboy hat? Still there. And, night after night of stepping on the stage, well, ain’t too much changed with his wardrobe. So, how does Blake describe his style? “Country.”

Nuff said.

CAPTION: “I was tired of the daily upkeep—not to mention the hairballs I would wake up with!”
