How Blake Tunes Up

Shelton talks music and his marriage to Miranda

As The Voice coach with the most wins (he's guided three out of five victors!), Blake Shelton has an ear for talent. Just don't ask him to choose his wife's next single. "Every time I help her pick, it doesn't do very good," the 37-yearold tells Us of country singer Miranda Lambert, 30. "She's like, 'Oh, thanks. Got any other advice?"' The star of NBC's hit singing competition (Mondays and Tuesdays, 8 p.m.) - who cohosts the 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards (CBS, April 6, 8 p.m.) with Luke Bryan - catches Us up.

Q: How do you juggle music and marriage?

I had that talk with Miranda today. She asked what I was doing so we could make plans, and I told her that I didn't know. She said, "How can you stand to not know?" I said, "That's what I have a team for!"

Q: Do you check in with each other often?

There's never more than a few hours that go by that a text doesn't come through that says "What's up?" or "Hi."

Q: Your pal CeeLo Green isn't returning to The Voice. Sad?

I campaigned for him to stay. But maybe he's done with reality and wants to do a stripper puppet show or whatever.

Q: At least you still have Adam Levine! Will you be best man at his wedding to Behati Prinsloo?

If he includes me, it's going to be a job like usher. A drunk guy walking the aisle with family members could be a disaster.

Shelton calls fellow Voice Levine (right) "a big goof." He says his wife's music advice is "usually pretty solid!"
