Blake Shelton Is Fine With 'Doin' What Miranda Lambert Likes' – But You Won't Catch Him Dusting

Blake Shelton says all the cooking, cleaning and bubble-bath-making he does in the video for his latest No. 1 hit, “Doin’ What She Likes,” doesn’t venture all that far from his real-life with wife Miranda Lambert.

“I think if you asked Miranda, she’d tell you I cook – I love to cook. I don’t like to clean the house so that part of the video is a little bit far-fetched,” Shelton, 37, told PEOPLE Country, adding that he has more domestic skills than one might expect.

“Making drinks, I’ve got that covered. She relies on me to do the grilling and I like that,” he said. “I’m good at anything that’s country – biscuits, gravy, chicken-fried steak. Look at me, for God’s sake. I cook what I like to eat.”

There have been moments, Shelton confessed, when his best-laid plans for helping out around his homestead have gone all wrong – even if he’s never accidentally set the house ablaze.

“I’ve burned the trash a few times and it got away from me. I’ve caught the yard on fire,” the three-time The Voice winner says of life in Oklahoma, where the star couple, wed since 2011, shares a home. “I’ve burnt up some acreage and had to call the fire department a couple of times.”

Likewise, some of the special things Lambert, 30, has tried to do for him at home have also gone awry.

“We caught some catfish, and she decided to make them into a healthy meal. So she baked them,” Shelton shared. “They sucked, real bad. The only thing you can do to make catfish edible is fry them.”

In all cases, he added, both spouses have meant well. “When things go wrong or don’t turn out the way you pictured them in your head, you just have to go with the best intentions defense,” he jokes. “I have a lot of good intentions.”

And the song’s theme of treating a woman right is a good fit – even for him, he says. “It’s a way to be manly and whipped at the same time,” he says. “But I like doing that stuff, too. I like bubble baths.”
