Shelton shares his secret for winning 'The Voice'
Blake Shelton is a three-time winning coach on NBC's reality talent search "The Voice." When the show kicks off its new season at 7 p.m. Monday, the country singer will join Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Usher and Shakira to vie for who each thinks will be the season's top talent.
Shelton, the winningest coach on the show, shared his secret: "I think it's real easy to overthink each artist as far as what their path should be. I've been guilty of it at times, too, as to try and create this big shocking thing that this artist does on the show and I think you can really screw up (your chances of winning) that way."
Instead, he tries to figure out his team members' strong points and play them up. Then it's all about the two P's: personality and performance.
"Just be relentless when it's their time to perform," he said. "If they're going to go down, I think it's going to happen no matter what. The more people get to know who those artists are, they're going to gravitate towards the ones they like as people as much as the ones they like as vocalists. That's what I do looking up to my heroes."
