Talking Kiddies!

"If my wife is anything with an actual human like she is with our dogs, our kid is going to be very spoiled!" Blake Shelton, 35, told Us before Miranda Lambert, 28, was honored at Cosmopolitan's Fun Fearless Awards in NYC March 5. "With everything happening in our careers now, we're a couple years away from starting a family, but we can hardly wait." Shelton's baby revelation came right after the pair enjoyed a rare week off together at their Oklahoma ranch. "We had so much fun," he raved. "It's just so natural and easy between us." As an insider puts it, "They're still in the newlywed phase. They are the best of friends and are the funniest people alive when they are together." Between Lambert's whirlwind On Fire tour and Shelton's mentoring gig on NBC's The Voice (which shoots in Los Angeles), it's been tough for the country couple to find time to connect. But their upcoming first anniversary on May 14 should make up for all that. "Blake has a very big surprise planned," says a pal. "And it will surely involve some diamonds!"

How do Shelton and Lambert solve problems? "Alcohol!" he jokes to Us.
