Blake's Secret Weapon
Shelton brings his wife to work on The Voice
Blake Shelton is married to the voice's No. 1 fan. "She loves the show big-time," the country singer tells Us of wife of nine months Miranda Lambert. "I get an earful about every contestant." It's no surprise, then, that he tapped the Grammy winner, 28 (along with Kelly Clarkson), to help advise his group of 12 singers on the reality competition for season 2 (premiering on NBC February 5, post-Super Bowl). Shelton, 35 - who sits on the mentor panel with Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green - sings for Us.
Q: As a team coach, what does Miranda bring to the table?
I chose Miranda and Kelly because they both survived reality talent shows. Miranda placed third on Nashville Star [in 2003]. I wanted people who could talk to contestants about what they're going through. Also, they're both really hot!
Q: How's married life?
We spent the longest amount of time we've ever spent together in December. We were together a little over four weeks without a break, and we're still married! You get to a point where you go, "That's enough. You need to go do a show now.”
Q: Are you excited about your first three Grammy nominations?
S-t, yeah, am I excited! Man, I want one of those things!
Do Shelton and Lambert steal kisses on set? "Oh, absolutely!" he says.
