OFFSTAGE: Who Blake Shelton Is When We’re Not Looking

I’ve been crazy about Blake Shelton’s slow and sexy “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking?” since the minute I heard it. The one about, “Do you pour a little something on the rocks, slide down the hallway in your socks?” So when I saw Shelton at Tuesday night’s (Nov. 9) BMI Awards in Nashville, all the things I wanted to ask him and congratulate him on completely slipped my mind. And what came out instead was, “So, Blake, who are you when I’m not looking?” He sighed and thought about it for a minute. Then he said, “I’m the guy who picks his nose at stop signs. I’m the one who sings along to Janet Jackson on the radio. And I like that candy where you dip the sticks into the sugar — Fun Dips. I still like those.” He also said that of all the personal and professional successes he’s had this year, there’s one trophy that’s eluded him. “I still haven’t killed a big buck yet,” he said.
