Gwen Stefani On No Doubt’s “New” Album, Sound

With the flick "Go" generating a buzz among critics, No Doubt's "New" is propelling interest in the film's soundtrack. The song is not only the first single off the record; it's also the group's first release in over a year.

The band has been holed up in the studio working on its new disc with Glen Ballard, perhaps best known as Alanis Morissette's producer and writing partner. Lead Doubter Gwen Stefani escaped just long enough to attend last week's "Go" premiere in L.A., where she gave MTV News a report on what we can expect from the album.

"It's a little early, you know," explained Stefani."It's kind of like when a baby infant's born and you can't really tell if it looks like a boy or a girl, but it's really cute. So you haven't done all the details, you know..."

She continued, “Sonically, it's a lot more organic and classic-sounding than I thought it was going to be. I thought we might branch out and try to use some new, like, pro-tools magic, but it's really, really organic..."
