Gwen Stefani on Catching the Bridal Bouquet: 'It Was Rigged!'

When Gwen Stefani caught a bride’s bouquet at a wedding last month, it almost seemed too good to be true. And turns out, it actually was.

“It was rigged,” Stefani – who just launched a makeup line with Urban Decay – tells PEOPLE exclusively about catching hairstylist Amanda Craig‘s bouquet. “I didn’t catch it. I caught it off the floor!”

The singer attended the wedding with her boyfriend Blake Shelton (he’s Craig’s longtime client). “She literally tried to belt it towards me,” adds the Voice coach about Craig.

The star is still working on her upcoming album and is “definitely in a place right now where the music is quite joyful,” she says. “What’s so cool about the record is it really documents the journey that I have been on.

She continues, “By going through such a tragedy of last year, something good came out of that [with "I Used to Love You"] and I was able to channel again and write and just be really confident in my gift.”

As for whether there will be any songs about a particular tall cowboy?

“I think I tweeted about that the other day that there could be one about him or maybe a lot,” demurred the singer. “We’ll see!”
