Gwen Stefani Gets Dance Fever

First solo single due this summer

Gwen Stefani has finished five tracks for her solo debut, which she hopes to preview with a new single this summer.

The No Doubt singer has sixteen songs written for the dance record and says she plans on “writing as many as it takes to make it great.” After attending the Brit Awards last month in London, Stefani stopped by Atlanta to work with hitmaking producer Dallas Austin (Madonna, Pink, TLC) on three songs. She and No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal have also been recording a song for the set. “[It’s] a mixture of everything we loved growing up,” she said. “Prince, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and Club Nouveau.

“It’s starting to feel like a record,” she continued. “I have loads of ideas and tricks up my sleeve, so watch out.”

Stefani will have the spring to continue work on the record before she and No Doubt get geared up for their thirteen-date summer tour with Blink-182. The tour begins on June 1st in Chula Vista, California.
