Gwen’s New Tune
No doubt, Stefani's voice is stronger than ever
Gwen Stefani is so hot right now. Literally. "Oh, my gosh, I have strep throat," moans the No Doubt frontwoman. "It's on fire!" But with a third solo album in the works - her first in nine years! - and a coaching gig on NBC's The Voice (Mondays, 8 p.m., and Tuesdays, 9 p.m.), holing up in bed is not an option. "I want to do everything," says the mom of sons Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 7 months (with ex Gavin Rossdale, 49). The Grammy-winning California native, 45, coughs it up for Us.
Q: Tell Us about your new music!
I've written around 15 songs - they're about my life. It's like the egg and the sperm just went together and created these songs. I feel like I'm in a place of, Wow, I have this gift - use it, share it!
Q: Any interest in going on tour again?
Sure! I'll just put my three kids in a van and say, "Let's do this!" They can sell T-shirts. [Laughsi]
Q: Your first major tour was in 1997. How has your look evolved?
When I started out, I didn't know anything about fashion. I had no money and didn't go shopping - I went to a s-t fabric store. Now, I love makeup and getting dressed up. It never gets old for me.
Q: Can you please share your secret for a perfect red pout?
Definitely, liner helps. And you cannot lick your lips - ever!
