Wishing on a star

No Doubt about it - life's looking pretty good for gorgeous Gwen Stefani.

The bottle blonde singer is set to make her big screen debut after landing a part opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the latest Martin Scorcese blockbuster.

But if that wasn't enough, she's also cock-a-hoop after working with a string of her heroes on new solo album Love, Angel, Music, Baby.

As she joined me for lunch this week, Gwen revealed how thrilled she was to work with Dr Dre, The Neptunes, Outkast’s Andrew 3000 and Britain’s own New Order.

She said: "I kinda had a wish list of people I'd love to work with and it just came together.

"Dr Dre and I are from such different backgrounds, we have no business being in the studio together but it just happened and it was magical!"

So who's still on her wish list? "My heroes are David Bowie and Robert Smith from The Cure. It would be wonderful to work with either - maybe one day!"

As if she isn't busy enough, she also plays Hollywood legend Jean Harlow in forthcoming Howard Hughes biopic, The Aviator. She smiled: "Oh that was awesome! I only have two lines but there's no small part in a Scorcese film. And to play Jean was simply amazing."

So will she be swapping singing for acting? "No, nothing compares to performing live!"

Love, Angel, Music, Baby will be out on November 22 and Gwen added: "I am so damn proud of it. I know it sounds stuck up but I'll even admit to listening to it in the car all the time!”
