Gwen Bounces Back

Love, Angel, Music, Baby rides the hot single "Hollaback Girl" back into the Top Ten

More than six months after Gwen Stefani released her solo debut. Love, Angel, Music, Baby, the album scored its highest chart position, Number Six, during the week of April 24th. It hit the Top Ten six weeks ago and it stayed there, according to Nielsen Soundscan, selling between 60,000 and 80,000 a week. The resurgence is due to her latest single, "Hollaback Girl," which has been Number One on the singles chart for four weeks and is a staple of MTVs TRL. The track, a Stefani cut with Pharrell Williams, was a last-minute inclusion. "I did the whole record, but I knew I didn't have my attitude song my 'this is my history, fuck you because you can't erase it' song," says Stefani. "I knew I wanted a song like that." The singer is planning to release a follow-up solo album before Christmas, including tracks left over from the L.A.M.B. sessions with producers Linda Perry, Williams, Terry Lewis, Jimmy Jam and Dallas Austin, plus new tracks she'll cut in the next few months. "I have endless ideas," says Stefani.
