John Legend Joins The Voice
The “All of Me” singer, 40, joins Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine as a coach on season 16 of NBC's hit singing-competition show, airing Mondays at 8 p.m. EST.
John, you already have a full plate. Why add The Voice to it?
LEGEND: It's fun and a chance to be home [in L.A.]. I get to see my kids [Luna, 2, and Miles, 9 months, with wife Chrissy Teigen, 33]. I'm there when they go to bed.
CLARKSON: Its a stable job, which is rare for artists. My kids [River, 4, and Remington, 2] love coming to see [host] Carson Daly’s kids or Gwen [Stefani]’s kids. They go to school together.
Adam, would you trust Blake to babysit your daughters [Dusty, 2 and Gio, 1]?
LEVINE: I don't trust him in any way! Except with that kind of stuff—he's good with kids.
SHELTON: If I'm in the room, they're on my arms, hanging off my legs or punching my stomach because it jiggles. I’m a big jungle gym.
Blake and Adam, you may not have an EGOT like John, but you’re both People’s former Sexiest Men Alive. Is that better?
LEVINE: So much better, are you kidding me? I don't want a Tony.
SHELTON: I don't want to go to one of those shows to get one. The parking's horrible, the backstage is cramped, you can't get a drink. It's much more convenient to just go for Sexiest Man Alive.
How competitive are you, John?
LEGEND: Oh, very competitive. And they're not having any mercy on me just 'cause I'm new.
CLARKSON: He got blocked by all of us!
SHELTON: John is definitely silent but deadly. No question about it, and I want to beat him.
