Summer Concert Series: Blake Shelton

(OC) All right. In our "Summer Concert Series," born in tiny - in a tiny Oklahoma town, Blake Shelton burst on to the country music scene just a few years ago and, boy, is he living out the American dream.

TONY PERKINS

(VO) Already he's had three top 10 singles and counting. His new album is "Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill." It just hit gold status with 500,000 copies sold. He's going to sing for us, but first, let's meet Blake Shelton.

TONY PERKINS

(OC) You're not one of these city slickers pretending to be a country guy. You're a country guy.

BLAKE SHELTON

I was, I was born down there in, in Ada, Oklahoma and grew up hunting and, hunting and fishing all my life and learned how to play the guitar.

TONY PERKINS

(OC) And I'd never heard of Ada until reading your, your bio. It's a town of how many people?

BLAKE SHELTON

Really? That's, that's amazing. I ...

TONY PERKINS

(OC) It's a tiny town.

BLAKE SHELTON

Yeah, it's a, I think it's 15, 20,000 people down there. They're all watching right now, too, so, hi, Ada.

TONY PERKINS

(OC) Hello to everybody in Ada.

BLAKE SHELTON

Everybody back there, yeah.

TONY PERKINS

(OC) So, what's it like going from a town that small to touring the country with Rascal Flatts, being here in New York City for the first time?

BLAKE SHELTON

Yeah, this is -my very first trip. It's, it's overwhelming. I mean, you can imagine just being kind of thrust into this. And - but I'm having a ball with it, man. It's, very few people get to do this.

TONY PERKINS

(OC) No.

BLAKE SHELTON

I'm, I'm real lucky. I love what I do.

TONY PERKINS
