Blake Shelton Talks Work Pressure and Almost Quitting The Voice
Though fans, Voice co-stars, and even the country crooner himself like to make fun of Blake Shelton’s alcohol-induced laid-back nature, this Oklahoma native is a real businessman.
This year alone he’s filmed three seasons of The Voice, released two albums, aired a Christmas special on NBC, and attended a variety of awards shows, all while attempting to maintain a healthy marriage to country star, Miranda Lambert.
“Oh my God. It sucked,” Blake admitted to Wetpaint Entertainment last weekend at the TCAs. “ I don't care who wants me to say that or not. I mean, I was doing season three of The Voice, Season 4 of The Voice, CMAs, and my Christmas special all within like three weeks of each other. And there was one point where I called my manager, and was like, that's it. I quit. I just quit. Figure it out. I'm going home.”
Fortunately, Blake was able to find a balance in his work and personal life.
“It's like you get to that point where you're like, well, okay,” he said. “We're all learning, figuring out how to balance being a maturing country artist, and then someone that's involved in television now. S—, man, I never planned on doing this. I don't know if I'll do it once The Voice is over, but I'm having a ball doing it right now.”
