Blake: I Could Be Kelsea’s Dad

Blake Shelton says he had a startling realization recently.  He’s actually old enough to be the father of Kelsea Ballerini.  He told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that Kelsea herself pointed it out:

“I’ve never met Kelsea Ballerini, she couldn’t be any cuter, I’ve just seen her on TV.  So I looked on Twitter the other day, and she wrote, ‘Blake Shelton, don’t hate me,’  and there was a link there. So I hit the link, and she was on a TV talk show, and they asked her who she thought was the cutest guy in country music.  I think she said Sam Hunt.  Then the host asked, ‘What about Blake Shelton?’  And she goes, ‘Well he’s kind of like a dad.’  And I was like, ‘What? And she’s right!  I could be her dad.  So at first I was like ouch, and then I was lie, the kid’s right  I could be her dad.  So I wrote her back, ‘I probably am your dad.  That’s the sad thing.  I’m not real sure.’  If we’re ever gonna be friends, she’s got to get used to that.”

Blake Shelton Lived With Adam Levine

How close is the friendship of Blake Shelton and Adam Levine?  After nine seasons of The Voice, it’s obvious that the two have become very close.  Blake talked about it with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton:

“I consider him one of my best friends.  I actually went and stayed with the guy when I was going through my divorce, and he was a really good friend to me during all that.

The two have been coaches on The Voice since the beginning.  Lon asked if either of them have ever asked for some time off: “No, it’s just developed where Adam and I are the bookends. It’s never even come up where Adam & I aren’t there, and I would hate to step away for a season.  I’ve told them if that ever comes up, I’m just gone period.  We’ve figured out what people like about our relationship, and that’s the immaturity, and the fact that we can’t hurt each other’s feelings, so there’s no holds barred.”

On the surface, you don’t appear to have anything in common.  What things do you share? “I think the thing that’s our bond is we come from such different worlds.  I find we’ll get into conversations where we just pick each other’s brains of how we do our touring.  The same with him.  He wants to know if I’m really a farmer.  We have these conversations, and hours go by.  The thing we have in common is music.  But that’s not what we’re interested in.  We’re interested in ‘Why are you so weird?'”

Has anyone ever asked the two of you to do a show like CMT Crossroads, where you sing each other’s songs? “We have been approached many times from movie companies, even the network NBC has asked us to do other projects together.  But we’re not going to do that.  I think we’re in the perfect situation.  I think if we start pushing it too far, it’ll be too much of us.  Everybody’s over-thinking it.  Let it just be good the way it is.”
