You know, it’s a show that centers on the contestants, of course

NATALIE MORALES: Well, you'll see. You know, it's a show that centers on the contestants, of course. But this season, it seems the coaches are grabbing all the headlines. And when we sat down with Adam, Blake, Gwen and Pharrell, let's just say they were in a raucous mood.

(Begin VT)

ADAM LEVINE: Are you guys getting all this? Marker.

BLAKE SHELTON: White balance.

NATALIE MORALES: Check.

This was the mood for my first ever trip to visit The Voice coaches in Los Angeles.

Guys, The Voice, this is my first time getting to hang with you guys.

ADAM LEVINE: I'm sorry.

NATALIE MORALES: I know. I'm sorry, too.

ADAM LEVINE: I feel bad for you already.

NATALIE MORALES: I feel bad for you guys.

GWEN STEFANI: I was just going to say I just want to warn you. I would be really scared if I were you right now.

NATALIE MORALES: Uh-Oh.

GWEN STEFANI: They are in a really good mood.

NATALIE MORALES: Uh-Oh.

ADAM LEVINE: Don't frighten our new guest.

NATALIE MORALES: Just like (unintelligible). I'm getting a sense already. Let's talk first about the show and the success of the show. You're season nine now. You guys are rocking it, week after week. Look at the iTunes chart and your artists are all in the top ten for the most part. What does that say about this show?

BLAKE SHELTON: I think it-- it's not just a karaoke contest this show. I mean, these are artists are-- they're performing their versions of these cover songs but they're making it their own.

NATALIE MORALES: Is it-- is it about the artists or is the coaching? I mean, you have a little ownership and pride in it, too?

BLAKE SHELTON: It's only about the coaching when we're talking about the four of us going against each other. But when we're bragging on the artist, we-- we brag on everybody's artists except, you know, when they're Adam's.

ADAM LEVINE: Like Blake, when you're right you're right, and you're right.

NATALIE MORALES: Is this all an act or is it really like this all the time?

PHARRELL WILLIAMS: No, no, no. No, no. I was going to say-- I was going to interject and say--

NATALIE MORALES: Yes.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS: --welcome to my world.

GWEN STEFANI: It's so beautiful, so emotional and a perfect platform to showcase your incredible singing.

NATALIE MORALES: Gwen, I know your second season. What does it mean for you to be able to give back to young new artists?

GWEN STEFANI: It's so rewarding in so many ways and I think I'm getting so much out of it as well because just being around so much music.

NATALIE MORALES: Let's talk about the bromance.

BLAKE SHELTON: Oh!

NATALIE MORALES: Okay. You two.

BLAKE SHELTON: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

ADAM LEVINE: Bromance with the B.

NATALIE MORALES: You guys seem to be, you know, as much in each other's business, it's like a marriage.

ADAM LEVINE: I hate his stupid face.

NATALIE MORALES: If you could put a song-- if you could put a song to-- to your relationship with Blake, what would it be?

BLAKE SHELTON: That Smell. You know that song That Smell?

ADAM LEVINE: No, I do not.

NATALIE MORALES: Blake, what about Sangria?

BLAKE SHELTON: Yeah. What about Lick It Up? You know, Lick It Up by KISS?

NATALIE MORALES: Okay. Wow. This is going so well.

ADAM LEVINE: You're doing great. You're doing great. Hang in there.

NATALIE MORALES: You warned me. You're right. You guys warned me.

Jokes aside, what is clear is that they are a tight-knit bunch. And when it comes to their personal lives, especially the new romance between Gwen and Blake, they've turned protecting each other into its own form of entertainment.

Gwen and Blake, of course, we all know what's going on with you guys. Is it good to just be out in the open now?

PHARRELL WILLIAMS: That was a nice segue.

NATALIE MORALES: Yeah.

ADAM LEVINE: Next question, next question, next question please. Ask the next question or it gets awkward.

NATALIE MORALES: So while they clearly rather focus on coaching than courtship, there's no denying their chemistry.

You guys are still having as much fun as--

PHARRELL WILLIAMS: Oh, my goodness.

NATALIE MORALES: --you-- you showed week after week.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS: There's nothing better, seriously.
